Below are links to some important documents for the California Bumble Bee Atlas. Please read and follow all permit provisions. If anything is unclear in the permits, you can contact us at [email protected]. You'll need to carry the SCP/MOU and any necessary lands permits with you when you survey (paper or digital copies). You'll also need to have personal identification with you. The Scientific Collecting Permit and Memorandum of Understanding only cover project volunteers who have been through our training and received notice that they were added to those permits. And, they only cover handling of bumble bees during surveys for the California Bumble Bee Atlas.
Scientific Collecting Permit (SCP) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
Please note, this file contains several separate documents related to the SCP: a cover letter, the permit itself, some standard SCP conditions, the MOU, a List of project staff who have certain extra authorizations in the SCP, and an informational letter about rabbit hemorrhagic disease. We have collated them so you have just one document to carry with you.

National Parks: please contact project staff for these permits: [email protected]
Remember, before surveying on BLM and National Forest lands, you'll need to contact local staff to check on conditions in the area you intend to survey. You may have to explain that you have a research permit and are working with the California Bumble Bee Atlas. For surveys in State Parks, you'll need to first contact California Bumble Bee Atlas project staff ([email protected]), who will connect you to biologists who manage the lands you're interested in. For work in National Parks, please contact project staff for permits and further information.
